    • Abstract:
The article discusses teaching methods which place the responsibility of learning on the students in an atmosphere of high expectations. The authors look at the alternative instructional model of the flipped classroom whereby students learn through blended learning by listening to lectures at home and engaging in group work in class. Also discussed is the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) developed by education researchers D. Rothstein and L. Santana in which instruction is framed around students' investigation of questions. Topics include educational accountability, educational assessment, and the benefits of teaching student collaboration.
