Evaluation of the result of two teaching methods: desirable-difficulties method based on information and communication technologies, and experience-based method according to the results of students in online learning of anatomy.

The importance of implementing a changing approach to anatomical teaching to obtain best student knowledge is discussed as well as introduction of blended or online learning. Methods of this study were the desirable-difficulties method and the experience-based method. Methods were tested with undergraduate nurses in the first year of their study (two semester anatomy course) at the University of Ostrava and follow up exam results for two years. The desirable-difficulties method provides a test after each topic (model read-test-read-test) and was based on ICT testing. Experience-based learning was established on perception of own body. Understanding and insight were built from this point. Both methods were used to support long term memory and comprehension. Former student test results were used for comparison. Before this study, student test results were usually lower in the summer semester, than in winter (same students). Probably because summer semester contains neuroanatomy, which is more challenging. During this study students results improved in the summer semester with usage of the desirable-difficulties method. The experimental group of students who used experience-based learning had significantly better results than the group of students with the desirable-difficulties method based on ICT. Both methods had a good result and can be used in anatomical learning to sustain or improve student knowledge even if teaching runs online. Desirable-difficulties can include problems which are typical for methods based on ICT - a loss of motivation. Experience-based learning is a very new phenomenon. We have not recognized any problems. Důležitost změny v přístupu k výuce anatomie za účelem zlepšení znalostí studentů v oboru anatomie se široce diskutuje a to např. i v souvislosti s možností zavádět blended learning nebo výuku online. Tato studie hodnotí metodu problémové výuky a výuku s účastí prožitku. Metody byly testovány ve dvousemestrálním kurzu pro studenty oboru Všeobecná sestra na Lékařské fakultě Ostravské univerzity ve dvou po sobě následujících letech. Metoda problémového vyučování nabízí test po každém tématu (využívá model přečti-testuj-přečti-testuj) a v tomto případě byla založena na využití ICT v online prostoru. Výuka s účastí prožitku je založena na percepčním experimentu s vlastním tělem, od kterého se odvíjí pochopení a vhled. Obě metody podporují pochopení a dlouhodobé zapamatování. Výsledky studentů z předcházejících let byly využity jako srovnávací. Před touto studií byly testové výsledky studentů nižší v letním semestru než v zimním. Důvodem může být fakt, že letní semestr obsahuje neuroanatomii, kterou studenti považují za náročnou. V průběhu této studie byly výsledky studia s využitím problémové výuky v letním semestru lepší (vyšší bodový zisk). Experimentální skupina používající učení s účastí prožitku měla signifikantně lepší výsledky než studenti používající metodu problémové výuky. Metoda problémové výuky měla obvyklé potíže vyučování založeného na ICT a to ztráta motivace. Metoda učení s účastí prožitku je nový fenomén a v souvislosti s jejím použitím jsme nezaznamenali žádné problémy. Obě testované metody měly dobré výsledky a mohou být s úspěchem použity pro výuku anatomie, a to i v online prostředí. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
